The Youth Ministry at St. John’s Parish is dedicated to Knowing Christ and Making Him Known. Serving 6th - 12th graders, it is relational-based in that adults are dedicated to walking with students as they navigate the changing culture. We wish to develop a youth community that encourages growth in Christ and Christian mission/leadership.

EYC
EYC (Episcopal Youth Community) is the official Episcopal youth group.  EYC provides social, missionary,  and spiritual growth opportunities for students in grades 6-9 (Junior EYC) and 10-12 (Senior EYC).  Students participate in several retreat events each year that combine spiritual development with first-class fun activities, such as Cornerstone Music Festival, The Underground, and Jesus Weekend.

Occasions for mission and ministry abound.  Recent projects include Christmas donations to the area Men’s Mission, Souper Bowl of Caring, mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Meals on Wheels, Family Fun Week/Vacation Bible School, and local mission work (yard work and basic home repair for senior citizens and others in need).

There are also several "simply fun" activities scheduled during the year, such as Christmas parties and the annual trip to Carowinds.

Currently, junior and senior EYC groups meet together on Sunday evenings from 5:00-7:00.  Supper is included!

Intern Program
St. John’s Episcopal Church intern program is in its 6th year and continues to be a blessing for the interns and the church. The intern program is for people that would like to explore youth ministry for a career or to immerse themselves deeper into the youth program. We have had a wide variety of people that have participated: graduating high school seniors, college students, and beyond. If you or someone you know would like to apply, please contact Pete Cooper at the church office (662-5585).

Volunteers
Volunteering in the youth ministry at St. John’s can be one of the most rewarding things you can do. Coming alongside a young person and helping them navigate the confusing world of adolescence is both rewarding and challenging. Adults and senior high students alike are trained and encouraged to grow in their knowledge and faith in the unchanging word of God as they face this rapidly changing culture. Giving of your time in this way pays dividends in many great ways. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Pete Cooper at the church office (662-5585). If you do not feel the call or just don’t have the time but still want to help, here is your chance. Here is a short list of ways: Have an intern or one of our college student volunteers for dinner; donate money to youth or intern programs; lend a house for a party or a weekend; shorten the wish list; donate snacks and drinks; serve food on Sunday nights; or drive youth to one of the many events during the year.
