Daughters of the King

The Order of the Daughters of the King and Junior Daughters of the King (DOK) is an international religious order for women and girls in the Episcopal Church.  Our purpose is to bring other women and girls into a living, loving relationship with Jesus Christ and to strengthen the spiritual life of our parishes and missions through prayer, service, and evangelism.  Members of the order take vows of prayer and service that reaffirm the promises made at Baptism and Confirmation.

The emblem of the order is a silver pin in the form of a Greek cross, which members wear at all times.  The Latin words on the cross, broadly translated, mean “With lofty heart and mind and spirit uphold the Cross.”  The initials FHS signify “For His Sake.”

In St. John’s Parish, members of  the  St. Agape Chapter of  Daughters gather for prayer and reflection on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the left corner room just inside the front entrance of the parish hall.  All women as communicants of the Episcopal Church are eligible for membership.  St. Agape Chapter members Kathy House (679-9100), Mary Hepburn (669-3958), or Kay Randolph (662-6167) will be happy to speak with any interested women about Daughters and how one may apply for membership.
