“And Some An Hundredfold”: Happy Results From Seeds St. John’s Helped Plant

Those interested in the medical missionary work of Drs. Caleb and Louise King may enjoy watching an interesting and encouraging news report which includes a good deal of footage filmed at Shyira Hospital, in Rwanda. Originally broadcast on the Jim Lehrer News Hour in November, the segment title is “US-Backed HIV Services Boost Rwandan Health.”

Caleb and Louise were not interviewed in this segment. However, the native doctor who is featured exhibits a spirit of competent service, which reflects well on the efforts of the Kings to attract and train first-rate Rwandan doctors and nurses. This required real effort, since Shyira is in a rural area, away from Kigali’s social amenities and big new hospitals. The report also reflects well on the success of the US Global AIDS Initiative, as it has developed in Rwanda.

If your computer can view streaming video on the internet, go to the following website: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/video/module.html?mod=1&pkg=africaaids&seg=1 and choose this segment to watch. Near the beginning, there is an interview with a Shyira patient. Then, the focus shifts to Kigali, the capital city. It then returns to Shyira for two and a half minutes, before moving back to Kigali and to another site. I think some Shyira scenes are included in other parts of the story. The whole segment is ten minutes long.
